To be clear, I haven't heard anything negative. All I am suggesting is there is more that one route to mining consent. Disc: I hold a significant number of shares.

True but by my reckoning the FTA route is quite critical to the timelines and fundamentals around the valuation, no FTA puts it into the older RMA time frames and the ORC will likely err to the conservative / no action better than a decision that might be wrong or contestably so. Standard RMA approval runs easily into the next central government term which if it is to be influenced by a Green component is by public comments of MPs on that side of the house a blanket anti mining on any terms belief, quite contrary to anything that Shane Jones might state and seemingly even more vociferous.
The TVNZ news item comment of Shane Jones about dead moths might indicate towards a Macraes issue so might not be about Santana to be fair.
I'm committed to pray and hope and whatever to see the FTA route here to be blunt, a few years might be a few years more than 2 until commissioning otherwise I'd anticipate.

Still require consent before they can stqart to get it out of the ground. Guess they have the right Govt in place for that to happen but I fear if approved how many appeals could there be.

NZ wants high paying jobs, well here is an opportunity in gold mining that could get crushed with constent appeals going to enviromental court etc..

Another reason why some young mechancis are leaving NZ in droves when you can earn $250k in Aust in the sector.

Chris Lee has a big stake and seems to be getting some inside gossip on progress.  Mentioned in his newsletter recently they'd already had 900 applicants for the ~ 300 jobs so no shortage of applicants that's for sure and who can blame them.  Such a beautiful part of the country down there and so close to Queenstown area with the almost limitless recreational activities that confers.  Just a "slightly" more attractive place to work that the Australian mining outback at 45 degrees lol

Yeah but NZ Inc is alot more protective of the enviroment especially compared to Central Otago.
Look I hope they get consent and its not dragged thru all the courts.

We as a country are sitting on a fortune on these resources but costantly held back by enviromental courts and people complaining about a snail dying.

Just had a thought, between the French, Spanish and Greeks maybe we could send these snails over there for consumption. Another new market!!

Basil

We can export the lizards to them too.  Lizard and snail soup at your favorite French cafĂ© anyone ? lol

Greekwatchdog

LOL yeah, A reptile Bouillabaisse. I am sure we could find a few snakes (human kind) to through in it as well

Sorry Chris Lee I've decided to diversify into 4 other Aussie gold  developers which are earlier stage (except for 1) to spread my risk.
Santana is still the biggest though.
Still got high hopes for Santana.
BTW I really appreciate the lead Chris ,it has been very lucrative - so far.
Go gold.

just a quick post, not looked into yet, nor questions to other matters on this thread I have a need to still address the validity of my posts. From other site a question arises from a Sunday post on ODT reporting that the assay results maybe tainted by onsite elements to tests, from recollection of my attendance at 03/03/2025 fortnightly community engagement at the Cromwell offices of SMI, the tests were portrayed as being performed by Macraes or a non detailed West Coast facility. You may find a record into an associated NZME media easier than the ODT. I'll update if discern more detail.

Basil

I'm not losing any sleep over said media article.

It seems to have been a question of the testing activity had been claimed to be of an industrial nature and that it was in a rural activity area. Agree it is likely some of the anti mining element attempting to raise matters that may at the least delay progress.

Also found a Council meeting report of 25 June 2025 on page 13 item follows. https://centralotago.infocouncil.biz/Open/2025/06/CO_20250625_MIN_2494.PDF

CARRIED
25.12.21 FAST TRACK ACT APPLICATION
To revoke a previous resolution and delegate the approval of the key issues report for the
application from Santana Minerals under the Fast Track Approvals Act 2024, to Council staff.
It was noted that the was an expectation from the community that although the fast track process
did not allow for community comment, elected officials should have opportunity to comment,
therefore the revocation was declined.
There was consideration given to the potential for the review to be appended with feedback from
community groups.

Also the post 113 regards $4 valuation prediction on page 8 of this thread was an error on my part, arose from a March 2024 Blue Ocean Valuation prior to the 3 / 1 split.
