Russia still go the northern and eastern fleet though.... or is it just floating about ... apparently the sub fleet is more professional.

True, but all these fleets would need to sail through the Bosporus which happens to be controlled by the (cough-cough) Nato country Turkey. I think there a is a rule that war waging countries are not allowed to go with their warships through there.

Not sure though, whether there are ways around this rule - it is the orient after all, and with a bit of koha (I hear they call it Bakshish over there) they might well look the other way.
