Amazon Prime subscription price raised by £1 a month. Unclear if this is just for the UK but I imagine that is the case, could signal price rises to come elsewhere though. Other interesting bits:

"Recent research has suggested that more people are cancelling video streaming subscriptions, such as Netflix, Disney+ and Amazon Prime, due to the rising cost of living.

A total of 1.66 million services were dropped in the second quarter of 2022, market research firm Kantar said, with the under-24s age group most likely to cancel."

Reinforces the merit in focusing on older demographics.

I cancelled Netflix recently because my sky watch list is too long.

Will subscribe again in the future for a short time to binge some new shows but I doubt I will sub all year again.

Especially when you consider Amazon will have the new LOTR series. So I will have so flick them a few bucks for a month or two a year to binge those shows before cancelling.

And then Disney+ will get a turn at some point too.

A little annoying having to cancel and re-sub though - the bundle will live on, I believe.

Bro, have you been buying any more stock lately? You use to top up regularly. What's your holdings and average?

Have just been holding (not buying) while I wait to see what they do.

I hold far too many shares.

And I think it has been proven over a number of years that I have paid far too much for them.

With the NZD so low at the moment against the USD...if the likes of KKR were kicking the tyres earlier (as per the AFR article) you would think they would be even more inclided to do a takeover now.

But we always think that Sky TV looks ripe for the picking, and nothing ever eventuates.

It is still odd that it has been almost 6 weeks since the MW deal was cancelled, and no news about a capital return. The fact that they have a WR deal pending should not affect this at all.

Why I think it will happen this time is that AFR article said (or at least the NZherald suggested after reposting the article) that it was Sky who initiated the talks this time.

All the previous takeovers were "highly conditional and incomplete" and the board turned them all down. Now it seems like Sky have done a u-turn and have just decided to accept an offer regardless.

Pressure likely coming from Ossium and Blackcrane, both of whom were likely pissed at the Mediaworks deal, both of these funds want to cash out and pick up other value stocks that have dropped recently.

I reckon (IMO) a takeover from PE will (could) happen either at results date or latest before AGM.

It just comes down to price. It should be $2.8-$3 but maybe cash will be paid out first (reducing offer by the equivalent amount) and settlement might not be until early next year. Which means more waiting and more value for buyer.

Bro, just buy some WBD stock afterwards and you'll get your gainz eventally!

WBD will end up buying sky in 2030 after PE make some money off it first.
