It appears Mayor Brown had a code brown moment.

Onemootpoint

Although a potentially serious matter; it was quite amusing listening to the mayor find the right words/ sounds in reply.

"During the Northern Winter season 0.5 million United States nationals departed or arrived through the international terminal, 40% up compared to last year and represents growth of 8% on FY19 levels;"

now that is interesting and can NZ return to a must place to visit ... on the list of things to do...

after all the amazing sites of the island are still here.. come what may ... except if the sun ejects a lot of hot stuff... a lot more than usual...

Amazing that the yeidl is above 1 on this high p/E stock... what do other airports pay around the world... as an asset how hard is it to replicate?

How do you measure that? Are you referring to the dividend yield of (currently) 1.8%?

I guess it will be interesting to see what happens with global warming and the arrival of new technologies. Sounds like flying is less and less healthy - not just to the climate. Think about the poor guys on SQ321 - passenger injuries (and deaths) during turbulences appear to increase significantly.

People might go back to sea planes - or even some sort of balloons. People might just travel less in the future and for sure less people will travel after peak human (which might be around now).

Maybe airports are not just a low yielding short term investment, but as well a sad story long term. How much are all these relay stations for horses (150 years ago essential for long term travel) worth these days? How much are many important railway stations (essential for travel still 70 years ago) worth these days?

Didn't Infratil lose already in the past a lot of money with airports - and this was when flying was still in fashion. Currently we well might move towards the shoulder ...?

Sure, they are slower than the big jets, but they are much more economical and environmentally friendly.

"ALL OVER THE RUNWAY" classic!

and that is why flights will be regulated and for longer flights the AIRPORT is going to be around in one form or another for a while yet...
