Despite tough times, cost of living, threats of inflation and interest rates, I reckon the economy has bottomed and is on the slow improve. There are still downside risks but this isn't 2022/2023/2024 yet... good time to be invested?. Tourism and net migration is rising along with healthy agri sector

Habitz, I'm not sure.  I'm still seeing a lot of businesses struggle and unfortunately some are folding.    I hope you are right.

Personally, I'm sitting on a 10% cash allocation which would normally be in the NZX, but I'm dithering on whether to plough in, keep it in cash or up my international allocation.

No harm in having some cash up your sleeve in my opinion with so much international geopolitical tension.  Easy enough to invest it when the dust settles.  Work on your buy-up list now while we wait for tensions to ease.

Yes agree it's still very tough out there, especially Auckland and Wellington. Have seen all this before, the good times will come again. I think it's a good time to be cautious. When buying also favour the approach of buying in parcels over time and not buying your total order in one go.

Crikey dick, GNE looks under valued 2 weeks ago. It going up like a skyrocket, who lit that fuse then mister B. ;)

Its had a nice run eh and has genuine momentum but HLG is now the most undervalued stock on the NZX in my opinion.  10 year proven EPS CAGR of 14% and on a forward PE of only 11.5 is nuts.  Even Tina would be impressed by those numbers and go and shop at Glassons 😉

2CC...
Both projected eps are for year ending 31/3/2027.
Current eps 7 cps current PE 9,Current Share price 63 cents
......................Share price...................EPS................PE.............eps Growth.............PEG.....
Current...............63 cents...................7cps.............9...............
Projected.........  85.5cents.................9.5 cps........9.................35%..................   -25
or projected........99cents...................11cps..........9.................57%.................... -15
Hmmm.A PEG of under 1 is considered good.
point 25 and point 15 ....Outstanding.
We will have to wait under November when 2CC announce their 1st half result, to see whether my projections are on track or not..

In the meantime we can enjoy our net dividend yield of 7.02%...NB.Fully imputed.

Quote from: Basil on Jan 28, 2026, 10:12 AMHLG, see my comments in the HLG thread. Additionally, $A1 = $US70 cents and $NZ$1 = $US60 cents is very helpful. Hold long term, them and TRA are two of the very best managed companies on the NZX. HLG in particular is trading on truly compelling metrics for their 10 year EPS CAGR of 7.3%.
Disc HLG is my biggest investment position, approx 20% of my portfolio.

I'm very impress with HLG's very important financial ratios. In fact except one, all of my stocks have minimum 6-year average ROIC and ROE  40% and 16% respectively.
