Even ISP account addresses have gone the way of the dodo.  If you want to verify someone's identity, use a phone number.  Then there is no name, no address, no work premise to stalk (and you can block a phone number from stalker admins). Anyone who wants to track you down for legal purposes can obtain a search warrant for telecom account records through the courts.

No, not directly, they just added sharetalk to their banned words list and the system automatically ***** it out.

Not really that odd Mini, for example you'll be familiar with HC automatically corrupting links to all sorts of other websites. If you owned this website or ST, would you want members promoting or even referring to your competitors?

I'm kinda free speech absolutist. Its one thing having a rule and another censoring.

Any owner should have sufficient confidence in their product that they can stand in the face of competition.

You could test that here, and see what Sharetalk thinks about direct referencing to the 'other channel' website name and address?  ;)

For sure, I understand, most of the regulars here have had bad experiences and long memories, and this is a nice place albeit a bit thick on the echo chamber syndrome, imo.

Well. I've had a quick look for some rules and can't easily find them so lets see what happens if I mention Sharetrader.

That seems pretty innocuous, but using the actual website address as a link might elicit a different response. Either way, if I owned Sharetalk or ST I'd censor out any references to the competition, regardless of how  confident I was in my 'product'.

You might, but even Hotcopper allows mention of the other site.
