Poster doesnt seem to realise it was the dodgy admin that blocked users. Nor aware of the numerous outages that site has had. And only has to register here as a user to avoid ads. And a lack of financial acumen - forums take money to run.

Awww shucks that's nice. I do miss some people on the other forum but I'm  an old, content and mostly retired dog now, lying in the sun on the porch with a huge stack of bones to eat and happy to stay where I am.   Admin doing a great job here and I am sure we all appreciate it.  Besides, there's plenty of Beagle haters in that other place and I can't be bothered with the drama.

Same here. Locked out for the punishable offence of trying to log in from Guangzhou in China. Repeated enquiries received no response.
The new owners let me back in last week (4 months later) but interest has disappeared and the midnight sun and the wildlife up here on the Arctic Circle has taken all of my time in that period. Nothing to miss.

Nice of Rawz to ask us to 'come home'...... however it seems that to many of us after rough treatment on the other site,  Stocktalk feels way more homely.

I'll be interested to see if the old site and new owners live up to their promises.

In the meantime continued healthy debate on both channels is probably the best option.

No effing way!. Not so long as Vince, his owners and Mods are around. I was never banned. Just locked out and shown as an active member. I won't go into the filthy tricks they played suffice to say I got the police to intervene.

I wonder how many users that site claims to have, considering how many people they locked out of their accounts so that they only look like they are users, but who cannot access their accounts any more.

Thai John and H2SO4 live outside of NZ and have not been able to log into Sharetrader for some time.

This forced the previous owners to restrict access to just NZ and Australia which was pretty effective but a bit of a sledgehammer. We have introduced stricter security and crawler controls while opening up the site to most countries people access it from and introduced Cloudflare managed challenges for the remaining countries in place of a hard block."

Thinking back on my time with the old site, I suspect my sudden banning/blocking coincided with my switch to a Swiss based fully encrypted email provider. ( I had changed email provider because I was tired of Google's algorithms 'reading' my emails and bombarding me with 'targeted' spam advertising. (My change to encrypted Swiss based email site and secure search engine 'DuckDuckG0" worked, and effectively removed Google from spamming me.)

About a year after my banning/blocking Vince rang me to ask me to return to ST. He apologised for my banning/blocking and gave a long spiel about how ill health and dated software had plagued him  for over a year, (he also blamed lack of investment by Tarawera) and promised to change the ST settings to allow me to rejoin ST. However it never occurred and I now suspect Vince was defeated by his own software blocking 'foreign email'.

To check this theory I recently got a friend (who uses the same secure Swiss email provider,) to try and join Share Trader....... the result was mixed. He is able to log in..... but is unable to post on ST (blocked by a message saying he doesn't have the correct 'permissions'. )

Clearly Vince and the new owners are still struggling with the dated software of the ST forum.

The new owner may have bought a lemon. That forum appears to be running  vBulletin® Version 4.2.5 which was released in May 2017. It is past end of life.

perhaps we should be kind and welcome people to a more modern home.

How many people have been prevented from joining because they do not have a non-anonymous email address?  I dont.  I have Gmail and thats it.  I dont have an employer, and thus I dont have a "work" address.  People who are retired won't have work addresses, and I would have thought those would be many of the people who are interested in investing.  Always seemed like a self-defeating rule to me.
