Myself and others have been advised that CommSec is closing the accounts of non-resident investors, along with their Chess sponsorship of current holdings.  Anyone here got such an email?  Have you contacted them to see if there is a way around it?

Your options are to move to another broker (anyone know of any Aussie brokers who will open a NZ resident account?), or to go to Issuer sponsorship.  The problem with Issuer sponsorship is that you cant sell your shares - you will need to transfer them to a broker in order to sell them.  Which brings you back to the broker problem.

Don't drink and buy shares in a downtrend, you bloody idiot.

Not sure about CommSec.

I used to buy / sell / hold ASX shares through Jarden (now InvestDirect), and they seem to run their ASX business as usual (https://www.investdirect.nz/pricing), and I do hold as well some ASX shares through ASB Securities' broker service, and nobody sent me strange emails about closing accounts of non Ossies, i.e. I assume they continue to do whatever they did (including buying and selling Australian shares for you).

From a user interface perspective and Service I prefer Invet Direct - bu

KW a friend has got around this and still has his Commsec account whilst living here in NZ by simply giving an Australian address ( a friend's) that will never have anything mailed to it.

you could sharesies or tiger trade - pending on how often you trade.
