Quite frightening development - if this really was Israel (we don't know, though the odds seem to point that way) it feels like there is some competition between Putin and Netanyahu about who of them can take the blame for starting World War 3.

And I guess, if it s ok for the Israelis to destroy foreign embassies of states they don't like, then is must be ok for others to do that as well, isn't it? Times might get a bit rougher for diplomatic staff all over the world?

Yes its a development that is increasing RISK bye a lot and its a wild move by  PM of ISL ....

The IDF mus be a bit nervous now surely...

Quote from: Waltzing on Apr 10, 2024, 07:27 AMIs it all going to flare up in the balkan again?

What a mess ..

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/04/09/kosovan-police-weapons-serbia-border-tensions/

Putin and his close allies (Xi, the dear leader, the Ajatollahs and Netanjahu) are doing an amazing job in destabilising the rest of the world. Divide et Impera!

The sad thing is that the rest of the world is dumb enough to allow that to happen. So far it seems to run the same course as WW2: Political polarisation everywhere, destabilisation, populist autocrats popping up everywhere and following that a disastrous war. Only the names of the villains changed a bit ...

Waltzing

Yes do we blame the lovely university  left wing politicians who though it was all a sing along by the camp fire...

you wont find them anywhere when the guns go off...

wait they already have.

Oh dear ... US drones expensive and unreliable ...

https://www.wsj.com/world/how-american-drones-failed-to-turn-the-tide-in-ukraine-b0ebbac3

(probably paywalled).

QuoteThe Silicon Valley company Skydio sent hundreds of its best drones to Ukraine to help fight the Russians. Things didn't go well.

Skydio's drones flew off course and were lost, victims of Russia's electronic warfare. The company has since gone back to the drawing board to build a new fleet.

Most small drones from U.S. startups have failed to perform in combat, dashing companies' hopes that a badge of being battle-tested would bring the startups sales and attention. It is also bad news for the Pentagon, which needs a reliable supply of thousands of small, unmanned aircraft.

QuoteUkrainian officials have found U.S.-made drones fragile and unable to overcome Russian jamming and GPS blackout technology. At times, they couldn't take off, complete missions or return home. American drones often fail to fly at the distances advertised or carry substantial payloads.

(sort of) Good news is - Ukraine still has access to Chinese drones, they are not just cheaper but much better and much more reliable.

Quite sad state of affairs. I guess the 30 years the West decided to enjoy the "peace dividend" by producing more rubbish instead of investing into improving our defence capabilities clearly shows. Lets hope this is just one unfortunate slip and we still manage to catch up with China's capabilities, otherwise - producing the biggest per capita amount of rubbish will probably not help us to win WW3.
