A380 definitely a larger calibre than a 787 by about 15%

A problem AIR has in some (not all) planes is the fit out. The B777's have been brought back and newer planes are not due until later. Those older planes have really dated fit outs, are noisier than A380's or B787's, etc.

The wet lease on the Perth route doesn't help either.

And AIR now will also have to deal with competition on routes it had for itself for a while eg Perth and New York.

Having said that, I do believe with flying increasing (more business and tourists, students, etc) worldwide including NZ there could be some upside.

May not be smooth flying though.

The safety and product rating website AirlineRatings.com has unveiled its awards for 2023, which sees the national carrier take the title back from Qatar Airways.

Must say I think the Singapore first class product looks absolutely sublime.  If you couldn't join the mile high club on a flight in a first-class suite with your partner on that airline, it's time for a trade-in lol

Apparently JET STAR got no stars but NZ could soon replace those call centres with AI regen... in fact id say that most companies are going to try to cut P&L costs by the use of information generating services...

That last paragraph is interesting and no doubt, not a surprise to anyone who takes and interest in these things.
I think it's clear that going forward into FY24, their ability to price gouge customers on international routes will be significantly reduced.

Surely you meant to say meet the market demand - price gouge is such an ugly word for the most respected or was it beloved airline in the world.

Implications of price gouging were strenuously denied by Greg Foran in a recent interview.  I think he took umbridge at the suggestion. Just for fun I did that mate.  Suppose I had to travel to Napier (to make it fair I picked one week from today) on business for the day.  Best priced flights Auckland to Napier timed to enable almost a full days work there were $264 each way.  I think Greg Foran mentioned in a recent interview "we're not a charity"  lol
