I am (not) surprised there hasn't been an announcement on the inventory loss due to poor manufacturing hygiene. I would have thought that kind of thing would actually be price sensitive.

3 CEO's in 5 years. Theres trouble at mill. Real major trouble.

I suspect A2 have written off their cash investment in Synlait. It seems that now Bright is loss making and China is securing all sorts of other IF and powdered milk supply there may not be any appetite to invest any further.

From every angle Synlait remains, in my view, totally uninvest able.

I dont know who would even show an interest in buying them out. They just seem to have it ingrained deep withing their DNA to be inept and incompetent.

Seems synlait now, is for all intents and purposes a Chinese company. They have just refinanced (and carrying an awful amount of debt) with ANZ Bank, China Construction Bank, Bank of China, Shanghai Rural Commercial Bank, HSBC, China Merchants Bank, Bank of Communications, Industrial Commercial Bank of China, and Bank of Beijing.

Great idea to spread that toxic debt out so that no one bank gets too big a haircut when the almost inevitable happens.

The slow moving train wreck continues, after the disastrous first half result

• Reported EBITDA of -$2 million to $3 million with underlying EBITDA of $36 to $41 million.
• Reported net loss after tax of -$70 million to -$75 million with underlying net loss after tax of -$19 million to -$24 million.

Really not much of an improvement on the half  year where they reported
A reported EBITDA loss of ($34.7 million)2, with underlying EBITDA of $4.1 million.
A reported net loss after tax of ($80.6 million), with an underlying net loss after tax of ($27.3 million).

So when they said at half year "Behind our roadmap sits a real determination to ensure the coming 12 to 24 months will be looked back on as a period
where Synlait under promised and over delivered." looks to me like they are continuing to over promise and underdeliver

Meanwhile the other major New Zealand milk and dairy companies are...making pay.

Fonterra lifted its full-year FY26 earnings forecast to 60–70 cents per share with operating profits of $1.8 billion and Westland a record pre-tax profit of $58m driven by high-margin exports like lactoferrin.

Synlait pivoting its milk processing into basic Whole Milk Powder due to "operational bottlenecks" (aka their own stupidity) right when global prices for WMP crashed, locked in significant margins losses while everyone else capitalized on high-margin products like lactoferrin that are in peak demand.

Any company with an announcement containing the phrase, "recovery roadmap" is a massive warning, like quills on a porcupine.  Don't touch!
