Did not go too far down the track. NZ citizens are exempt from the FIRB restrictions. Funding wise there was a higher non resident LVR which meant from the main banks having to fund a 20 to 40 percent deposit, that might not be the case now.

Some apartments we looked at with good gross yields had very high maintenance and outgoings currently or I thought coming up. We would have rented it out with short term stays so that we could also use it when we wanted.

I see other way around. Property bust it not over yet. We are in the final stage of the current very long cycle. Property markets are slowing down globally. Next are stock markets. Not that far away. Perhaps  in 2027 or 2028?
