Well, maybe I should better introduce today something to stop hackers, but anyway:

ARMR is an ETF based on a number of western defence manufacturers:

... and so far they did well. 61% increase since fondstart in  October 2024, despite some current fallback.

Question is - will Trump and Putin now stop shooting and start using the calumet (peace pipe) or are they likely to increase their illegal wars to rebuild their support? What about Xi? Is he likely to utilize the current lack of defence weapons in the western system to make his point re Taiwan?

Tyrants just love to wage wars, particulalary if things don't go that well at home - don't they? ... and hey, even when the two currently fightiing are gone (and no matter who takes over) - the Europeans will need plenty of arms to rebuild their armies.

So, yes, we will need a better defence. Only question is, whether the defence companies who are currently in ARMR will be the ones who get the big future orders? Does it really make sense to catch a $50k Russian or Iranian drone with a $5m Patriot rocket (sure - some cost still more)? Maybe they need to add as well some Ukranian companise who found already cheaper ways to defend themselves?

I reckon the incumbents will miss out on alot of the spending. Europe seems to be getting more nationalistic by the day and want their own military industrial complex, for now. I think the ukraine and iran wars have shown that war today is mostly about quantity and the USA big names have spent most of their lives in a quality focused procurement environment. I wonder if at a company culture level they are disadvantaged compared to the battle hardened companies closer to the ukraine war. Most of the europeans are pretty fiscally constrained so will be looking for value, locally produced stuff, and while the US budget is huge the growth story there could be questionable given how much of the federal budget is going to stuff a lot of regular people don't really care about. Lets not forget trump originally ran on a "no more wars" theme. But who knows.

I wish there was an ETF focused on defense intelligence and analytics related companies. Doesn't matter what doctrine you are using, you can always benefit from knowing more about where your enemies are and what they have.

Perhaps NYSE:WAR "US Global" Technology and Aerospace & Defense ETF might be of interest?
