Fireworks have started up again tonight after 6 hours of them last night.  At the risk of revealing myself to be an old curmudgeon, man I wish that they'd put an end to this BS.  It has no relevance at all to NZ, they're dangerous (and especially in the hands of morons - who seem to be exponentially more attracted to burning vast amounts of their cash on buying the damn things) and most of all it's an annual misery for my dog.

Yep had enough of them and their effect on the animals and wasting fire service resources etc etc, goes on for weeks/months after the date at all hours of the night. Public displays only going forward please.

Absolutely. We had this year an (luckily only lightly) injured sheep and a pretty shocked flock because a moron three blocks away thought he needs to entertain his guests with fireworks. Incredibly loud bangs - and one of the rockets came down in our paddock. His sheepish reaction: "But I had friends over here".

Always feel for fire service and ambulance staff who have to sacrifice their time to look after the damage idiots like that are causing.

Speedy Az gets grumpy with people letting off fireworks and last night went outside and told the neighbours what he thought of them doing so ....rough translation 'was f+*+ off and take your f+*+en fireworks somewhere else'

Neighbours complained today about the dog barking last night  .... I just smiled

Oh the irony....of people complaining about noise as they let off fireworks late into the evening....I'm not even a grumpy old man but I also support banning them.

One of our Neighbours used to let off the huge commercial grade fireworks they use in public fireworks displays.  They were so loud and close the explosions literally shook our house and rattled the windows.  We had 3 little Sydney Silky Terriers at the time and one of them was absolutely terrified and inconsolable.  Even when closing all the blinds and turning up the Telly to full volume to drown the sound out he was shaking and quivering in my arms for hours.
The word in the neighborhood was that he had a reputation and wouldn't be told.
One year I decided to fix him and in the middle of the night took a bright red spray can and painted in bright red paint in HUGE WRITING all over his concrete driveway, NO COMMERCIAL GRADE FIREWORKS IN RESIDNETIAL AREA'S.  He never did it again.

Tony the Pony seems completely unfazed by the normal sort of domestic fireworks that were going off all over the place on the weekend.   I took him outside and invited him to "comment" on it.  He didn't even bother issuing one bark.

Central WakaToo Towns were pretty quiet last evening...

Back in the day pre GFC there were some local council funded displays... they are no where to be seen.

Big Ball in the Wakatoo saturday evening very COLONIAL..

Some Waltzs and Austrlian New Vogue..

Very popular with the local Hamilton and Town and Country COLONIAL's.
