Fisher Funds have increased their investment in SKO with on-market purchases of 1.3 mill shares.
Good sign of optimism.

It's raining again so have been researching this company. Gosh feel sorry for holders given the decline. Have plenty of cash. Fishers like it and seem to be averaging down, they also took a position in facebook which has not worked out. Overheads increasing dramatically with revenue growth modest at best. No insider buying but deal with booking.com could lead to huge growth. Also plan of an acquisition which has failed to materialise.
Thoughts...?

Chart still says no. Momentum investing requires patience, but at least you can get 5% on your cash in the bank while waiting, whereas "value investors" get to watch their capital go down the toilet on a daily basis. Never underestimate the returns on a good night's sleep with no stress 8)
Need to lock your money away for a year on term deposit to get 5%, 3.90% on call with Direct Broking is not too shabby though. Value has spanked growth as a sector this year and I think the chances of a repeat in 2023 are very good.
As for companies like this that are losing money, please wake me up if their business model ever works and they actually make money lol

Should see share price start tracking back to previous highs over next couple of years and we'll be able to say always good buying in the 200's

The shame is they again restrict themselves to revenue guidance only . In May 2022 they said revenue would double in FY2023. Which gave a figure around $39m. So this up on that but not exponentially. They offered no profit/loss guidance in May either- (then siting Covid and Ukraine uncertainties.) The month cash burn for FY2022 was $3m. If they haven't got this under control that projected revenue is going to be eaten up pretty quickly.

FWIW In their last report they said;

That burn could be called a bonfire.$86 mil over 24 months.?

Hmmm that'd be all of the $85m capital raise, and no materialization of the acquisition tease that accompanied that.
NZX a bit sleepy today, slow start.....Wellington on holiday.
Going to be interesting to see what the ASX thinks.
Finished at 2.25 on the NZX (+0.18 or 8.70%) vs 2.03 AUX (+0.14 or 7.41%.) Much of a muchness - a bit more lethargic over there. The Markets are buying their story for now.
And holders likely happy that TA downslide has been halted with the $2.06 low unlikely to be revisited.
And holders happy today....SKO top of the NZX leader board..
up 8% or 21c to $2.75
SKO now up 33% from 12mnth low of $2.06
Yep, good news LF. Unfortunately there's still a long way to go to reach the heady days of $8+ in 2021 though!😀

Did not stay low long enough. Would have been even better if the sp fell below $2.00.
Anyway, cannot be greedy - picked up enough at average of $2.23 but as usual, would have liked to pick up more.
One of the few stories in NZ with almost unlimited potential to leverage off the rapidly recovering and soon, back to fast growing travel & accommodation global industry.

( and you're the one who taught me patience.....$8 would be great.) 8)
Thanks LF. Patience has certainly been sorely tested over the past year or so but I've been hanging in with most companies in my portfolio. Really good to see SKO heading north again - and potential for much more growth as the travel industry gets back on its feet (or in the air).
SKO has made some investors (myself included) a lot of money and I have every confidence that the stock will make shareholders a lot more in the next few years.
Diligent Boardbook comes to mind when investors question SkO's strategy. So many NZ investors failed to understand and appreciate its potential, leaving the offshore investors to reap the huge returns from Diligent.
Teitei - hope you are right. Well entrenched in the travel industry and I like the way the company has managed its way through the tough times recently..... heading to profitability hopefully in 2024.. or so.
Pierre - Must admit I haven't been all that patient with this one. More cautious really....I first purchased in Nov 2017 at $1.45 then sold out in August 2021 around $7.10..... I didn't take part in their last cap raise.
Re-entered on the recent news in Jan with my DCA now at $2.30. So far so good!

Got to watch the liquidity with the stock.
Price action in recent months was driven by one big sell order (1.5m shares) which sent the sp tumbling until it was taken out on 23 January.
That was the time to jump in and there's still plenty of upside ahead imo.
Watch out now for the buyer of the 1.5m shares to trade out some of the cheap stock at around $2.50 imo.
Great posts on a few threads this morning @Teitei

• FY24 guidance for total income of $63 million to $70 million
Poised for 30% plus FY24 revenue growth..... with goal of $100m revenue in FY25 looking achievable.
• Serko confirms its aspiration of $100m in total income in FY25.
• Serko is well capitalised with cash of $88m and no debt. Underlying monthly cash burn peaked in 1H23 and Serko is committed to achieving positive cashflow for the FY25 financial year with appropriate cash reserves on hand at the point of breakeven.
• Serko anticipates full year total income of between $63m and $70m for FY24 based on current trends including the continued business travel recovery, growth in active customers in Booking.com for Business, a strong Euro:NZD exchange rate and current average revenue per completed room night. There are a number of initiatives which have the potential to drive further revenue growth, however, the timing and therefore the impact on FY24 revenues is uncertain.
• Serko anticipates total spend of between $86m and $90m based on its current investment plans and anticipated efficiency gains partially offset by higher volume related costs.
• Guidance remains subject to ongoing risks including geo-political and macro-economic risks.

Powering on towards $4.00 - hope it reaches there by ASM.
Always good to buy at close to $2.00 eh, W69?
I reckon the market must have finally latched on to the fact that Serko is an early and very successful adopter of AI in its service offering.
"Businesses and organizations are adopting AI, most commonly investing in automation for customer service needs—for example, virtual assistants, chatbots, etc. Other popular reasons for implementing AI include social data mining, human resources automation, enhancing products and services, and translating languages (i.e., Google Translate). Still relatively new, AI adoption is growing across the world among organizations looking to streamline processes and raise efficiency and production standards. AI adoption is the most popular in telecom, high-tech, and financial services industries."
All tracking well in Serko land

Tuned in for the Q & A's of the ASM
Seems biggest concern was the Booking Com partnership and it's renewal prospects in October 2024.
Holders wary after EBO's recent experience.
So SKO has had a bit of a breather but is bouncing off its support level. Any pick up in the US tech market is going to provide a tailwind for this one. Could be a good entry opportunity if you missed the first breakout move.
Its also a good potential Takeover candidate for one of those US tech stocks ;D

Agreed Winner, this is a great sign on. A marquee signing! I had a lot to do with his family back in the day in Chch. Sean is a real renaissance guy - brains to burn and athletic (he was a top class decathlete.) His political and business career stateside has been phenomenal.
I'd have thought he was way out of Serko's league. I know it's the Wah's year but I can't think of an analogy that works for them. So maybe, for the Phoenix it'd be like them nabbing Chris Wood.
Welcome revenue upgrade and renewal of Booking.Com contract for 5 years..... should turn around the recent downward slide....

We enter FY25 in a solid position, with positive trading conditions, a renewed partnership with Booking.com and our team focused on executing for the opportunities ahead."

Accelerated product and technology investments are anticipated to be approximately $NZ40 million over the next four years.
Serko's aspiration of $250 million in total income by FY30 reflects Serko's current growth trajectory and our assessment of the size of the opportunities ahead.
However FY25 cash flow positive projections are now up in the air.
FY25 Outlook
Serko affirms its total income guidance from its FY24 results announced in May 2024, anticipating total income to be in the range of $85 million to $92 million for FY25. This does not take into account any expected revenue from the acquisition of GetThere as announced today.
Based on current growth trends, and ongoing execution of plans, Serko anticipates continued acceleration of Booking.com for Business revenues in the second half.
Serko's current business is on track to deliver positive free cash flow for FY25. However, Serko no longer expects to be cashflow positive for FY25 when including the acquisition and accelerated investment announced today.
