Title: BLT - Blis Technologies
Post by: Left Field on Jul 14, 2022, 08:37 AM
Fresh start or back to basics..... GLH.

https://www.nzx.com/announcements/395323

The board and management of Blis Technologies Limited (NZX:BLT) have undertaken a review of the company's strategy and business model following the disappointing performance in FY22.

Through focused R&D, Blis has a proven track record in delivering innovative probiotic solutions to the global market. A renewed focus on this core business primarily for global B2B partners will drive scale and return to profitability.

Blis Chair Geoff Plunket commented "While we remain committed to our company purpose "Developing breakthrough probiotic solutions for the health and wellbeing of global consumers" the FY22 result has led us to consider whether a more tightly focussed strategy is appropriate. By sharply critiquing every aspect of Blis' operational and financial performance we have identified what we do best and how we are best to deliver to our purpose".

Blis will make a shift to a narrower operational focus on Business to Business (B2B), establishing partnerships with proven industry operators to commercialise its proprietary technology. This will see Blis move away from direct selling to consumers, other than in New Zealand and the US Amazon platform by the end of the FY23 year.
"

They go on to say....

"Working capital position
Blis' working capital position remains solid, with in excess of $8m in cash reserves the company is well placed to support this strategic change.

Q1 FY23 result
We are also pleased to report the unaudited results for the quarter ending 30 June 2022. Revenue for Q1 FY23 of $2.3m is 29% growth over the same period last year, with an EBITDA loss of $0.3m."

yep, back to drawing board again

Good sales up in Q1 but just as well they didn't say Q1 revenues of $2.3m were 21% less than same quarter two years ago

Brought BLT over 20 years ago telling myself I'll sell them and use the proceeds for my daughters university tuition!! Well they've both finished Uni.... Now I'm thinking of using the proceeds for my retirement but that's only 8 years away.. Fat chance.. So I'll leave them in the will and have my daughters use the proceeds for their children...

Can't blame you LF - holding shares in this company has been an absolute trial and a real test of patience. There have been so many promises and so many let downs over so many years.

The tie-up with Probi is the only thing that gives me any confidence these days. I'm certain BLT's "new strategy" will have been driven by Probi and I believe they will make sure it succeeds.

So, I'll continue to hold and hope that one day soon Probi will launch a successful takeover bid.

Shifting a few deck chairs on the Titanic while saving costs ..... a smart move?

On 14 July 2022 Blis Technologies announced a refocusing of strategy on core business. In line with this change we have looked at our structure and made changes to our senior leadership team.

Effective immediately Jennifer Walker who previously held the position of Marketing and eCommerce Director has been appointed to the new role of Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and will provide leadership for all revenue streams and integration of sales and marketing activity. Along with this change the role of Commercial Director will report to the CRO so will no longer be part of the senior leadership team.

Pretty lame action by BLT. I was expecting a bit of a cleanout as a result of the change of strategy - not just a change of titles.
Maybe the Commercial Director will move on though after being demoted from the SLT.
There must be more headcount reductions to come...surely?

Agree, shuffling a few deck chairs.

Marketing director has only been there since late February.

Shows the failure of the sales/marketing function at Blis going back many years.

"Blis Technologies Limited (Blis) delivers revenue growth of 24% and a positive EBITDA result for the third quarter ending 31 Dec 2022 (unaudited)......

Revenue for the nine months to 31 December 2022 was $7.2m up 15% on the same period last year, EBITDA loss for this same nine month period is $0.9m, which includes one off costs associated with the strategy reset of $0.3. This is a solid improvement on the $1.9m EBITDA loss in the same period last year.

Based on our latest customer sales forecasts and market feedback, guidance is for full year revenue to be between $9.5m and $9.8m, with an EBITDA deficit in the range of $1.0m to $1.2m.

Nice to see BLT chugging along OK at last. Hope Brian keeps his foot on the accelerator till he moves on to wherever he's going.

Maybe the new CEO when he/she arrives will finally strike oil somewhere and kick this outfit into gear. Mind you, I've been waiting since 2005 for that to happen so, if it takes another couple of years it wont really matter.

Life in the old dog yet?

Rare revenue upgrade!

https://www.nzx.com/announcements/429533

Blis Technologies Limited (NZX:BLT) advises that the draft full year financial results for the 12 months to 31 March 2024 have exceeded previous guidance due to favourable timing of several major customer orders, increased sales across our B2B channels and an underspend in some planned R&D expenditure for this year.

Our latest guidance for the year ended 31 March 2024 is for revenue of $11.5m and EBITDA of $0.8m subject to completion of the annual financial audit.

This is an increase on the previous guidance provided on 23rd February 2024 of revenue of around $11.0m and EBITDA of breakeven to $0.3m.

Blis Technologies' annual report and financial statements are expected to be released in late May.

A long time ago I doubled my money in BLT and then moved on..... so for sentimental reasons it's nice to see BLT is now doing OK (however I wonder if its worth it being on the NZX?)

https://www.nzx.com/announcements/431666

In the year to 31 March 2024, Blis Technologies Ltd (Blis) achieved a return to profitability after two years of operating losses. The profit for the year was $0.6m, which was in line with guidance. This result was achieved on revenue of $11.5m, which was 12.6% higher than the previous year.

Revenue growth was achieved in our Business to Business (B2B) segment, with an 18.2% increase in ingredient sales and royalty income. Revenue in the Business to Consumer (B2C) area was affected by cost of living pressures on our customers and as a result revenue was consistent with the previous year. The revenue growth combined with a tight control over costs resulted in an improved trading performance. Net profit after tax for the year of $0.6m compares with a loss of $1.4m in the previous financial year.

Trading halt called..... not looking good... just as BLT were making progress...

Reasons for trading halt, including impact of event on fair orderly or transparent
markets: The company has become aware of a patent filing that potentially has a significant
impact on the company. The company needs time to assess those impacts including obtaining
legal advice.

Market update on the competitive patent application.

BLT case looks strong......but progress will come at a cost.

https://www.nzx.com/announcements/438596

Blis Technologies Limited (BLIS) wishes to advise the market that it has become aware that a key customer has filed a patent for the BLIS K12™ and BLIS M18™ fermentation process in 3 key jurisdictions, being the USA, Europe and China.

Also named on the patent registration as inventors are two employees of a European manufacturer which ferments probiotics. BLIS previously worked with this manufacturer to ferment the BLIS strains and disclosed its trade secrets to them as part of this process under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).

The wording on the patent application contains wording and provisions which, in some instances, are identical or almost identical to information BLIS provided to the European manufacturer. BLIS is concerned by the release of its confidential information in the patent application and the potential impact that this may have on BLIS' ongoing operations.

The release of BLIS' trade secrets and confidential information, as part of the patent application, has considerable financial implications for the company. A reduction in revenue is expected in the short term due to less sales of BLIS' probiotic ingredients. It is expected that this key customer will terminate its arrangement with BLIS as a result of its patent application.

BLIS has sought legal advice in relation to this matter. BLIS will challenge the patent application and take action against the European manufacturer and the key customer for their alleged breaches. Additional costs will be incurred by BLIS as a result.
On this basis the guidance provided by BLIS on 22 August 2024 is withdrawn.

BLIS has cash reserves it can rely on whilst it works on alternative strategies to address these challenges.

Boy, has this company has turned out to be a disaster. Just saw a post elsewhere that reminded me I used to hold a few.

I bought in, in Jan 2020 at $0.07
Sold Feb 2021 at $0.066

And today they are sitting at $0.014

Anyone still hold? Has there been any outcome on the patent situaton?

Strong YTD performance
19/02/2026, 08:30 NZDT, MKTUPDTE
19 February 2026

Strong YTD performance

For the third quarter (3Q26) ending 31 December 2025, BLIS Technologies Limited (BLIS) achieved revenue of $3.1m, although being 3% behind the same period last year, the nine months revenue to 31 December 2025 was $10.8m, an increase of $1.5m (17%) on the same period last year.

The EBITDA result for 3Q26 is $0.3m, the same as for the same period last year. For the nine months to 31 December 2025 (YTD), underlying EBITDA is $1.7m after adjusting for the one off supply chain costs noted in previous market updates. Reported EBITDA is $0.8m being an increase of 44% on the same period last year.

"Year to date revenue growth has predominantly come from a $1.4m (21%) increase in B2B revenues, a combination of strong orders from existing ingredient customers, new ingredient customer activity in APAC and growth of private label revenue. Total B2C revenue has grown by $0.3m (9%), with strong performance in the NZ Wholesale channel." said Scott Johnson, CEO.

"Over the past months, BLIS collaborated closely with Probi AB to revise their joint business plans, aiming to advance the oral probiotics program for both humans and pets. This was a result of the extension of the existing Technology License & Distribution Agreement. This relationship is key to delivering future growth in our B2B business." said Scott Johnson, CEO.

BLIS' full year revenue is forecast to be in excess of $14m, with reported EBITDA in the range of $0.8m to $1.1m, subject to completion of the annual financial audit.

BLT has a very strong balance sheet.
Total Assets are..... $14,968,000
Total Liabilities are $1,927,000.
In current Assets there is Cash of $4,005,000 and short term deposits of $4,500,000.
I like small companies that have strong balance sheets.Means they will not run out of money or want more capital anytime soon.
