On CNBC last night:
"Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck on building hypersonic technology"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPMPz8LWVP8
More details of engine reuse (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://spacenews.com/rocket-lab-to-refly-electron-engine/&ved=2ahUKEwjW3t277Lb-AhUat1YBHYoPBnYQxfQBKAB6BAgIEAI&usg=AOvVaw3QDvP3M5glSCKsMO8M6mX4) as raised in the interview.
Things going off with a bang at SpaceX. (https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/apr/20/elon-musks-spacex-launches-test-flight-for-rocket-that-could-bring-people-to-mars) So employees 'cheered' the explosion, that must fill potential travelers with deep confidence.
Yes, saw the news of the Big Bang last night. Had the same thoughts :o
Beck's story. (https://www.cnbc.com/2023/04/11/how-rocket-lab-ceo-peter-beck-built-multibillion-dollar-company.html)
"Based on 7 Wall Street analysts offering 12 month price targets for Rocket Lab USA in the last 3 months. The average price target is $7.65 with a high forecast of $13.00 and a low forecast of $2.50. The average price target represents a 93.67% change from the last price of $3.95" Suggesting analysts have little / no idea how to value this stock. I have a few in my high spec portfolio.
Some RKLB news:
"Rocket Lab says its decision to delay its planned mission to Venus by about two years was made for business reasons, but its share market performance was not a factor."
https://www.stuff.co.nz/business/132606001/rocket-lab-says-venus-mission-delay-a-business-decision
Trading up 88.3% on the start of the calendar year. Plenty of positive puff pieces in the press too. Hopefully, there is more in the tank yet.

Dang, Beck flicking $22m of his stock has put the rocket in reverse. Shame as we'd had a good run of positive news stories.
Bad day in office for Rocketlab ...failed launch
Suppose losing a customers satellite is an expensive exercise
Rocket Lab is due to post Q3 guidance which hopefully is not the third leg of a bad news trifecta.
Rocket Lab released that their third-quarter revenue has been cut from between US$73 million to US$77m to a US$66m-$68m range following its failed flight on Sept 19. 20% downgrade. Trading $4.05 post market.
The euphemism they're using for the rocket failure is "the anomaly (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4eIudp_NbM&ab_channel=TheCirclePit)."
Shares getting punished for that failure, along with the current market pressures.
Rocket Lab is taking on the lease and most of the staff at SAILGP's Warkworth manufacturing site. SailGP has been a supplier to Rocket Lab.
Great that 55 employees with advanced composites expertise remain in New Zealand. This further solidifies New Zealand's physical place in the aerospace industry too.
Farewell SailGP and your CEO Russell Coutts, don't let the door hit your butt on the way out. New Zealand's fairest weather friend.
Thankfully, the space race, unlike yacht races, doesn't have its hand perpetually extended to the tax player for funding.
I was a bit annoyed when I initially heard of the SailGP developments shifting to the UK. Felt like deflating the sails so to speak.
But good on RKLB continuing there keeping on staff.
Luxon today promising a minister for space. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYYRH4apXDo&ab_channel=DavidBowie)
"New Zealand's commercial aerospace industry employs 12,000 people and contributes $1.7 billion to the economy. New Zealand is one of only 11 countries with active launch-to-orbit capability, with Rocket Lab launching more than 30 times from the Mahia Peninsula," he said.
National's space policy said it supported building "two dedicated testing zones for space and aerospace, in addition to the site at Kaitorete".
Cool a 'space' minister, to go with the other waste of ...space ministers. Cue the puns!

Well, I just got my butt kicked in Mini Golf by my 13 year old Granddaughter so sign me up, I definitely feel like a space cadet lol

No puns from me for the moment.....I think you have already gone where no man has been before....you've won. ;D
Lucky we're in line for a Minister for Space, the rocket race is heating up. All the rage in European now. (https://www.theguardian.com/science/2023/oct/07/spanish-company-launches-reusable-rocket-in-breakthrough-for-european-space-ambitions)
Nice bounce along with a few related stock.
Nice article - wonder how the rocket race will influence RKLB.

We're off to Venus. (https://www.space.com/rocket-lab-private-venus-life-hunting-mission-late-2024) Maybe even less than 14 months away. Isn't that where women are from?
# Quarter result of revenue up and overall loss down.
# Moving towards profitability.
# Fully booked manifest of 22 Electron launches in 2024, nine of which will be reusable rockets.
# Progress on the larger Neutron rocket continues, with successful testing of its first stage tank.
# Cause of the launch failure in September has been identified and a solution has been put in place that should make sure there's no repeat
US$67.6 million (NZ$114.4m) revenue for the three months ending Sept 30, which was at the upper end of the company's revised guidance for the quarter.
Net loss was US$40.6m, down US$6m from the second quarter of 2023.
Guidance for the fourth quarter is revenue of between US$65m and US$69m, with an adjusted Ebitda loss of US$23m to US$27m.
SPACE X latest rocket launch ends in explosion. Mean footage here. (https://www.bbc.com/news/av/science-environment-67461791)
10 days until Rocket Lab's next launch "The Moon God Awakens" (all their missions sound like heavy metal titles) from Mahia Peninsula.
It'll be their 10th flight this year (their most launches in one year) and 42nd overall.
Huge win for Rocketlab, shares up 24 percent on the news of a $US515M contract with a U.S. Govt customer to design, manufacture, deliver, and operate 18 space vehicles.
The contract includes a base amount of $489M and incentives and options totaling $26M.
Work under the agreement will begin immediately with the delivery of the space vehicles to the Customer for launch slated for 2027, operation of the satellites through 2030, and an option to operate the satellites through 2033.
The market is hating this debt that Rocketlab is taking on. Share price getting a kicking.
Mars attack ....

Struggling with whether to sell my remaining RKLB shares, have sold about a 1/3 of them.
been on quite the run...... I firmly believe it will be over a 100 bucks in the next few years.
Neutron Target Price: $50-55 million per launch.
It has been my best performing share by a country mile.
Been on a massive run thats for sure. I have been waiting for it to come back to earth but nope it is still heading to the moon at a blistering pace.
I have no plans to sell and if it drops back significantly I will try and find some funds to buy more.
So many times I have jumped ship too early and watched the sp continue to go up and up
But there are just as many times I have stayed on board and watched the sp go down and down
Neither feels good, so good luck deciding Hawkdog
Probably done the right thing selling a few if you want to avoid future disappointment. I sometimes sell high flyers to cover original entry costs then sit on the rest. I think @lorraina calls them free shares? Rocketlab possibly still has legs as it's being compared to SpaceX valuation, which may IPO in the near future.
My decision was to sell another third, so will let the remaining 1/3 ride. Will add if it dips significantly
sold the first third at $33, second third at $51
I purchased shares all the way down from 10 to 3.30. - unfortunately I have a personality bias that makes it hard for me to buy on the way up - knew I should have bought when it dipped to the teens from 33 - something I need to work on.
added to my RKLB position at 40.61
Neutron delay seems to be the reason for the correction.
yes,I bought a few too, bigger more profitable payloads maybe key to their success and ultimate profitability , (or not) but worth watching.
Seen their new 3d printer? its looks pretty amazing - pumping out Neutron parts.

RKLB hit 73 bucks to end the week. buying the dip paid off there.

Sir Peter Beck himself explains the significance of the $816 million SDA contract awarded today, and how Rocket Lab could ultimately capture up to $1 billion from it 👇
"It's a resounding affirmation of our evolution from simply a trusted launch provider to a leading vertically integrated space prime contractor."
"that could take our total capture value to approximately $1 billion for supplying items such as payload, solar solutions, attitude determination and control components, software and other solutions from our broad portfolio of capabilities."
Its being going off like a proverbial rocket. Congrats to holders.
Hit $86 today
I have some in my KiwiSaver. Sharesies allows 5% to an individual stock
So not a large sum. Have only had KiwiSaver since 2018 as that is when I moved to NZ
That 5% allocation is up 75%

Good to hear there're allowing 5% to an individual stock. I should transfer my kiwiSaver to Shareies and start buying stocks when markets drop.
This guy at BusinessDesk obviously doe't hold any RKLB

A generous estimate of FY25 revenue might be US$600m or so. Revenue for the nine months ended was US$422m. This implies a price-to-sales ratio of 78x.
To be screamingly clear here, the P/S ratio of Google-owner Alphabet is roughly 10x. The P/S ratio for Salesforce is 5.5x. The P/S ratio for Australian defence-market darling Droneshield is 13x.

Should start a thread on your favorite stocks to buy if we get a major correction.
One of my biggest regrets after 2008 was not buying TECK - it dipped below 3 bucks - by 2011 it was back up to $60. Should have levered up.
