Crackity

Quote from: kasper on Jul 28, 2022, 09:32 AMFor sure, trouble is over there you have people like that guy fish acting as judge/jury and executioner all in one and things turn nasty because some are so narrow minded they can't even consider thinking outside of their tiny little keyboard warrior mindset. As it turns out you now have plenty of people who have had 4 shots getting just as sick as those that had none etc etc.

Fish on ST is a doctor - I'd at least consider his viewpoint on medical matters.....

In my opinion it has been demonstrated countless times that arguments and bad blood created in one thread always infects other threads. Additionally, the moderation load from having a highly contentious topic being argued over would be much higher than multiple regular threads. I see very little value in creating a place for these discussions, as I don't believe they are anything more than shouting matches. Who here can honestly say they are open to having their views changed on something like coronavirus, politics or climate change by someone on an online forum?

Exactly, extremely polarized views will never change and threads promoting them only leads to ugliness and posters falling out with each other and more work for yourself to boot.

Well said.

Good to see the discussion on this site's NZX thread sticking (mainly) to investing in NZX companies.

Long may it last.

Good points, and ultimately, I come here for discussions about investing in companies and such, but then I do see it is useful to look at how other events/issues affect market decisions.  This is a difficult one.

It is a shame that too many folks have thin skins.

Agree 100%.  Politics, religion, climate change, all things woke and ESG and well as last but by no means least, Covid...lets just leave those "debates" for other forums elsewhere to manage.

Need to get back to finding a really good boat at a fair price..that's something really difficult !

but multiple offers already :(

Anyway...back on topic...I don't know how others feel but for me a month on from escaping that asylum I am feeling much better for my new sense of freedom so I really appreciate the help I got from the usual suspects who gave me so much "fan mail" over there that helped me escape.   They did me a huge favour and the general tone of this place and standard of moderation here is off the charts better than over there.

Long may the generally polite and cordial exchanges of different points of view and information sharing on here continue !!

Indeed, although some ST posters miss the dog and the dog misses some people on there but certainly not all of them LOL

Time for posters to give up on their antiquated ideas of keeping a dinosaur on life support.

Pull the plug guys and let it die in dignity.
