So at one stage DJT made it into the day's "top 10" share price rise table. Any bets on when it'll make it into the day's "bottom 10" share price fall table?

It won't be long.

Did you see this?

QuoteInterest in Trump Media has also been fuelled by individual investors, as opposed to Wall Street firms, many of them apparently Trump supporters.

No surprises there. They have no clue what they are doing.

QuoteHe is currently barred from selling his holdings for at least six months, making it difficult for him to tap the windfall immediately.

The company's board, which is stocked with allies including one of his sons, could potentially change that rule, but analysts have said they think that would be unlikely to happen immediately.

Given his current apparent financial situation, I wouldn't put it past him to try to cash in at least some of his holding.

Gotta love it ...

"Shares of Donald Trump's social media company fell by more than 20 percent on Monday (local time), less than a week after it began publicly trading under the DJT ticker.

The drop comes after Trump Media & Technology Group reported it had lost nearly US$60 million (NZD$100m) last year while only bringing in around $4m (NZD$6.7m) in revenue.

The price plunge caused the former president's net worth to shrink by $1 billion, according to Bloomberg./I]"

Half of me feels sorry for the poor fools who will lose their money investing in this to help their hero, and the other half of me hopes it crashes and burns so badly that it takes their heroes golden halo down with it.

No point in feeling sorry for people who throw their money away to support a well known crook and conman. They thoroughly deserve what they get. I guess, anybody investing these days into Trump must have been away from earth for the last three decades or so, and I am not aware of any space mission which took that long.

I can however share in the second part of your feelings :) ;

A foreign friend recently asked me to tour guide an American tourist for an afternoon. A retired doctor and administrator from LA. I assumed they would be the stereotypical wealthy retired laid back surfing LA Democrats. But Oh No, she was a rabid foaming at the mouth Trumpster. She truly lived in some sort of alternative reality. In her eyes The Donald was the Second Coming, here to save us from the Satanic Democrats, etc. It was a truly eye-opening experience for me.

Sooner you than me! There is literally no way I'd have been able to keep my mouth shut.

Interesting, isn't it? I guess there is a good reason its called "the Trump Cult".

What makes it worse for me, is the fact that some of these minions are clearly intelligent, educated people. This woman is a retired doctor, so she is not stupid in the true sense of the word.

I shouldn't be surprised actually. The Nurse Manager at work (prior to covid) left because she was anti-vax and wouldn't get vaccinated. She is an avid Trump supporter and conspiracy theorist. Oh, and an evangelist Christian (of course!)

It is beyond scary.

Intelligence is a complicated multidimensional concept. So, yes, there are clearly as well (in some way) intelligent people carrying Trumps lies. This might be a reflection on the imperfect definition of intelligence (actually, there is a handful of them) and the still less perfect methods we use to measure intelligence.

What all religions and cults do is reducing for their followers the need to think and reflect, because their leaders do the thinking for them. No need to think and question (which might make the brain hurt), just follow the Führer. Some people (even if they match one of the conventional definitions for being intelligent) find it comforting to live in a less doubtful world, where somebody else does the thinking for them. Its just easier.

I suppose in some situations there is some developmental advantage for human beings in flocking together and just believing their leader without applying critical thinking. All early human civilizations have been built around religions or cults - its just an amazing tool to allow one leader (good or bad) to control a mass of people without being questioned - and it does allow this leader to use his (or her?) power to enslave his people as well as use the power of his collective to control other groups with a less convincing cult. That's human history for you in a nutshell.

All great demagogues and all successful religions in history did use this trait - and clearly, while many of their followers might classify as sheep, many of them are nonetheless (obviously depending on the definition) intelligent.

I know quite a few people that chose not to take the Pfizer vax and gave up their jobs and did it tough for a few years, they are all now happily back working and I admire them for their stand. Regarding Trump, its not hard to work out his popularity, you only need to study Biden for a while and you can see why.

I 100% disagree with all of that, so I am going to sit on my hands and resist the temptation to respond  ;)

Nothing wrong with disagreement or sitting on your hands.
